Grinding wheel versus Flap Discs - Miller Welding Discussion

I use a grinding wheel when heavy material removal is needed. I use a flap disc for less material removal. I have several different grits but 60 and 80 is my favorite. I use the flap discs for rust/paint/ dirt removal and for deburring and rounding edges. I have used many brands, but I buy Walter for grinding wheels and flap discs from my LWS.

I am also not a fan of flap discs, I eat them up too fast and they cost too much. Maybe I am using them wrong. I do 90% of all my grinding with a 4.5" angle grinder w/ standard grinding wheel, and roloc sanding discs on a die grinder. The roloc wheels are cheap and work for me.
